My *first* Matilda Jane

By now, anyone who knows me and knows my mama, knows that she loves to buy clothes for me and loves to dress me up in matching bows and shoes.

Momma loves to be slightly off beat with my style sometimes too!

Before I was born, mommy worked at a place called, Gymboree Play and Music. And while working there she had a very nice discount she was able to use at the Gymboree clothing store. Since mommy and papa had a hard time "making" me, mommy found comfort in buying clothing to prepare for my arrival. And yes, she has a tote of boy clothes because she didn't know if I would be a boy or girl. Maybe one day (soon) mama will be able to use those boy clothes!

I love my gymboree clothes. Momma purchased clothes seasons ahead of time when I was younger and so while I was able to wear the cutest clothes- I wasn't wearing the same things as everyone else. Momma told me that it's important to stand out from the crowd- whether it is your personality, your kindness, your leadership, your clothing! (Or of course all of the above!) ;P

Since momma lost her job before I was born and decided to stay at home with me- she have been fun of creative ideas. So not only does momma make my bows (and everyone elses!), she also started a (rather large) collection of fabrics to make my own clothes.

Momma is inspired by the unique, vintage, and eclectic style of Matilda Jane clothing. Feel free to fall in love: http://www.matildajaneclothing.com/

However- as much as momma enjoys nice clothing- she can not bring herself to pay the price tag that follows this Matilda Jane name. But that doesn't stop her from wishing and dreaming!

My momma knows lots of people, and ever since she started a small business- she has been doing a lot of "trades". This means I can get some items and momma makes bows or some clothes in exchange. Momma told me this is important to "barter". She said it gives the items you trade even more value because of the importance of trust in people and for people to trust in you. Momma says that it is very important to do what you say, and to keep your word.

Ok ok, enough chatting around the subject. The real purpose of the blog is to tell you about my beginners collection of Matilda Jane!

While momma has a lot of wonderful customers from her business, there are a handful whom she has a better connection with. Ones that she calls her Internet friends. One of these customers loves Matilda Jane just as much (if not more) than momma and was willing to do "trades". SO momma will be making headbands/bows/etc to trade for some Matilda Jane pieces.

Momma picked out a beautiful outfit set and a dress she has had her eyes on for a very long time!

She was so excited for it to come- and when it did she was even more surprised! For the kind lady who traded with momma sent an extra top with the package! Not only was it a sweet and kind gesture- it cheered Mommy's day up. After some set backs with Leena the first few days of coming home- this lady touched mommas heart.

She told me that it is rare that you find people who go out of their way for others. Who are selfless and reach out to touch someones heart in a positive way. Momma said that above all the things she wishes for me, she truly hopes that when I grow up I will possess these characteristics. For there aren't enough people left in the world like that.
